Blind Shrimp And Goby

If you ve paid close enough attention you may have noticed that the goby is not alone rather is accompanied by a small shrimp pushing bits of rubble out of that small hole.

Blind shrimp and goby. With the goby keeping a lookout the nearly blind shrimp places one tentacle on the fish while exposed so if the goby darts inside the burrow the shrimp is instantly alerted to the presence of a predator and it too darts back inside the safety of its burrow. The goby uses the burrow to hide from predators and acts as the eyes for the shrimp flicking its tail to warn the shrimp of danger. More often a couple of gobies and a couple of shrimp were found in one burrow.

Or there is nothing better than being a good team. The story of friendship between this unlikely duo is a refreshing sentiment to the acceptance of people or animals with disabilities and the bonds of friendship. Shrimp or gobies never lived alone in a burrow and the minimum count was a single shrimp and a single goby.

The plot is simple and stirring. Most divers are familiar with the sight of a gobies sitting steadfastly next to a small hole in the sand. Once upon a time a small shrimp barely able to see anything roamed the ocean floor and was in great danger because many other creatures were just looking for delicious food.

An example of this is the relationship between the goby fish and snapping shrimp. The shrimp is blind and builds a burrow for the goby. The shrimp builds a sand burrow and allows the goby fish to share the burrow.

The shrimp is almost blind so it. The nearly blind shrimp can then retreat into the burrow to be spared from predation. During the day the goby spends most of its time at the burrow entrance interacting with fellow gobies and maintaining a constant vigil for predators.

The illustrations bright and warm. This picture book for children takes a journey under the sea and tells the colorful story of a unique relationship between a shrimp born blind and a mud sucking fish. I received goby and the blind shrimp by amanda delisle through a goodreads giveaway.
